Eva lives in the beautiful city of Prague. She was born in Slovakia, so at home they speak Slovak with her family. Eva feels like a person with two lives – one in Prague and one in Slovakia. Her life in Prague is full of education, obligation but also friends and experience. Every summer holiday she travels to Slovakia to see all her relatives, stay in touch with her original culture and have a rest in nature. She especially enjoys hiking in High Tatra Mountains.
The Moral Compass
With freedom of press endangered in many parts of Europe and the work of independent journalists becoming harder and harder we wanted to know first hand what it is like to work as a journalist with an interest in human rights and female empowerment in today’s Poland. However unpleasant the circumstances, there will always be people who would be proponents of the past, whatever the regime or the political system at that time. This seems to be the case especially in post-communist countries, for which the transition into a democracy does not always go smoothly. In light of this, during our trip to the Czech Republic, we asked citizens of Prague the question:‘If you could bring back one item from the times of Czechoslovak Socialist Republic (CSSR) what would it be and why?’ in the hope of creating a memory suitcase, which offers a look back at the past through the eyes of ordinary people.
