2nd BSYD: Workshop Descriptions

Workshop Descriptions

Group of interviewers: During the meetings with history witnesses as well as with the inhabitants of the region of Warmia and Mazury the members of this group will try to find out if and how the local people identify themselves with their place of residence. Under the guidance of a facilitator the group will learn basic techniques of interview, prepare questions and conduct interviews with local residents. The most interesting parts of those interviews/questionnaires will be printed in two languages: Polish and English on special boards, and presented during the final public presentation. Please bring a digital dictaphone or smart phone/mobile phone with audio recorder and with cable with you, if possible.

Photographic group:  The members of this group will do a photographic search of the most interesting “traces in the landscape” associated with multicultural heritage and the present of the region of Warmia and Mazury. They will photograph the cultural and natural landscape of the region as well as local people in their direct environment. Before the photo-research the participants will learn how to make optimum use of various electronic devices (cameras, tablets , smartphones) to record the image, and will get basic information about: composition, perspective, light, exposure and recording format. The most interesting pictures will be presented during the final public presentation. Please bring a digital camera, tablet or smartphone with cable with you, if possible.

Film group: The members of this group will gain basic information about the techniques of filming and film editing. Equipped with a camera / mobile phone or tablet, they will start an individual research trying to „catch” the images, sounds and conversations with inhabitants that create the image of Warmia and Mazury as one of the sub – regions of the Baltic Sea . The effect of their work will be a several-minute film presented during the final public presentation. Please bring a digital camera/tablet or smartphone with cable with you, if possible.
